When I had my live scan done I went to Mail Boxes Etc (I think they are now UPS Store), I had all the paperwork filled out and as soon as the scan was done I put the page they give you in with the paperwork (made copies for my records), got a stamp from them and had them mail it and I was done with everything minutes after the scan. After that it was just the wait for it to arrive.

I was almost late sending in this years renewal, I set it aside and remembered about it Friday Aug 29 and it expires Sept 3. Mailed the renewal Sat Aug 30th with delivery confirmation so I had piece of mind knowing they got it by the 3rd since the 1st was Labor day. I know they will still process if you are late but I wanted to make sure they had no reason not to. I called them on the 3rd to make sure it was received and the lady confirmed but with a long gasp she said they were 8 to 10 weeks out on processing.... It came in the mail 2 days ago (the 17th) and was postmarked the 15th. Only took 9 business days including the day they received it & sent it, that has been the fastest turnaround for me so far.

Just for my own edification - what is the cost?

I called CA DOJ but couldn't get through

Did mine on 8-28 the livescan/permit cost was $88. I had one about 5 years ago but let it lapse. Still haven't got mine yet.

It was a little less than $100 for me. The livescan place collects all the fees.

$96. That was at the ups store. Don't bother calling the DOJ. I called and they said the turn around is 6 weeks.

I was just shocked by the third post that it took only 9 days for a renewal. I do not expect it done in September. I will be ecstatic if it only takes 6 weeks.
