cmp?

i have had my c&r for a few months now and yet to use it. i have a question about the cmp. does the cmp accept c&r holders as an affiliat or do you still need to be a member of a club? i was thinking of spending some money with them but there are no clubs around here affiliated with them.

Join the garand collectors association for 25 dollars. With that and the C&R you'll be good to order from the CMP.

The GCA is great the 25.00 is worth the quartly magazine they send you. Every time I start reading it I cant put it down and the photos on the back are the best.

+1 on GCA and the magazine. I'd definitely spend the extra 3 to support them instead of CRPA.

Just joined the GCA today. Well, I sent off my "application" today. I'm preparing to pick up a M1 Carbine ASAP. Went on the CMP'S sales page for carbines and was shocked to see only one option for M1's left. Need to make sure I pick one up while they are still available so I don't have to pay several hundred dollars more later on down the road. I really wanted to get a Garand first but I want both and got to go with the carbine first. Hopefully when I send in the order they are still around. Wish me luck!

Being a vet means no shooting needed,correct? And gun shipped to your door? And NRA does not count,right? How about VFW or AL?

I am stupid for not getting into CMP stuff in the past.

Hi Moonclip, check out the sale requirements on the CMP site to double check, I think the fact you're a vet means that you quality for the "shooting" requirement - the C&R satisfies this requirement as well.

Guns are shipped to your door, they apparently run a background check, factors into that month long processing time I guess.

You definitely need to be a part of a CMP affiliated club - there's a link somewhere on their site for a list of all the clubs they are affiliated with. If you're already a member of a local shooting club, but dont' see them on the CMP list, I suggest you ask about it because I am a club member to a local range which was not on the list - when I asked the president why it was not on the list, they realized that they forgot to pay their dues (and they promptly sent them in after my reminder).
