03FFL Address change - Two Questions - FREE BEER !!

Question #1:

On the address change application - Section 2 Box 5 -

It states: (as reflected on attached FFL) -

Yet there are no instructions to send in the current original/copy of FFL license.



Question #2:

Lake Forest contracts their police coverage to OCSD -

Is this where the copy of the address change request gets sent?

For what it is worth, I don't remember sending my old FFL when I changed my address, and I have done it twice.

As to Q2, if you called 911 who would respond? If it is the Sheriff's office, that is where you send it.

Also, for a change of address, you should definitely include a cover letter. Unlike the application, this form is the same for all FFL types, and it isn't clear from just looking at it what it is for.

I just posted on another thread. I changed my address last month, and I called and the lady said yes send in the original as well. I made a copy in the mean time. Still haven't received anything back yet. Starting week 5 today

Never sent my original either, didnt seem to matter. Got a new one pretty quick, with no requests for the old which I destroyed.

This is the main body of the letter I sent in to the CLEO for my area:

{To whom it may concern:

I am sending this copy of the my FFL 03 (Curios and Relics) license renewal as stipulated by Section C, Question 6 on the ATF Form 8.

No action is required on your part. This is a courtesy letter for your files.}

I also included my Name, Phone # and address. I got a phone call thanking me for the heads up and it went into a file.

I just included the original license. No cover letter needed the license and application combined are self explanatory for the ATF. I always include a cover letter for the sheriff's licensing division with my number and a good time to reach me in case they have questions.
