C&R registration form question

Hello there,
I recently received my C&R license and got my COE yesterday. Looking to purchasing from some online dealers. I know when I receive my items, I will need to register with the BOF 961 form since I'm in state when I acquire them.

My question is, on the form, the field "Aquired From" only has "Gun Show", "Private Party", "Family", and "Other". For an online dealer, do I need to check Other and provide the dealers name or website? Or do I put something more general like "Out of State Dealer" or something else? It seems like the other options are pretty general already on the form.

When I buy online, I usually put other and put Online auction or online purchase. So far, all my purchases have gone through.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was thinking of putting the same as there are no instructions to be descriptive, but wanted to make sure.

If it's a dealer like J&G, I have been checking the "Other" box and adding "Shipped from AZ. FFL#************." That has worked just fine so far.

How long should one expect to wait for a reply from DOJ after sending in a form?? I sent one a week and 1/2 ago and my check still hasn't posted in my account.

I have had it take as short as two weeks and as long as almost 3 months.

My last one was mailed 6/16, check showed cashed in my account on 6/30 and I received their "Collector's Report of Curio/Relic Handguns" stating my 3 M1 Garands were "acknowledged" on 8/11. (kind of annoying the DOJ letter references "handguns" twice, although this was for long gun registration)

My latest one was mailed 8/12, with no check cashed yet or letter.

Good to know, just got my letter acknowledging my registration of my Springfield Garand as a handgun, manufacturer "SPH". I tried calling the phone number provided on the phone, but.... the line immediately goes dead.

I wouldn't worry too much about the "SPH". For my 3 Garands (all Springfields) my letter said the same thing. Must be some sort of internal abbreviation DOJ uses.

"SPH" is an FBI gun data code for a Springfield Armory produced service rifle during the Spanish American War.

No idea of that's the SPH they're referencing, but it wouldn't shock me given the level of ineptitude Sacramento is known for.

My M1 was acknowledged as bought out of state. I clearly used the correct form which asked for my COE
The one for my 1903 was returned denied. I sent it back with a photo of the rifle. They just cashed the check.
