Beautiful - what a great score.
So, cool that it came with it's original era ammo, too.
I have always liked these little colt autos.
All the way back to the not so little 1902 auto models.

On another note -looking at your very nice photograph - I immediately see a potential excuse for all those pulp writers of the 40's and 50's who termed any handgun a "revolver" - the sticker inside the box

I love mine. I bought it for my wife guess who takes it out plinking? Fun guns, that one is a score. If I hadn't made some recent purchases I'd be tempted to get it

To remove the rust, put a small puddle of oil on it and then scrape it with a nickle until the rust is removed.

Didn't you mean scrape it with a copper penny?

Very nice little gun. I'd love to have it in my meager collection.

Thinking 6/800 range may be attainable if my negotiation skills can meet the challenge.
Just wondered, seen one at lgs awhile back for $500 it wasn't nearly a nice as yours.

I usually use a nickel when removing rust this way, but a penny works well too. I believe they are both pretty close in hardness, about a 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

If I had to guess, I might think it has been refinished.

The original 1903 had a fire blued trigger and a blued barrel.

I can't tell from the pic if the trigger finish is original or not.

How does the barrel look? Is it original or a replacement?

Many of the 1903 had barrels that were extreemly pitted due to cleaning process and corrosive primers.

The replacement barrels had rough machine marks on the outside.

Yeah, I can see where those two might get confused.

Thanks for the tip by the way.
