Need old Smith and Wesson help

OK guys, I'm going to be picking your brain here. I have a old Smith and Wesson collection that we are going to be selling. My first question is how do you tell what model a 32 safety 3 1/2 inch is? I keep hearing first, second...I just need to be schooled on how you tell.

Thank you in advance for the schooling.

You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.

    By the serial number.
    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I would go to the Smith & Wesson forums for any other questions. Those guys live for that.

Probably the best place, to get the best price, on a gun in that condition with the original box too.
