    Lee Enfield no2 mk4*

Picked up another trainer the other day. It's built on an early no 1 mk 3 body like another I have and still retains volley sights. 1910 London Small Arms, which to me is another bonus as I try to keep an eye out for LSA's. Another bonus is the New Zealand property stamps and unit disc. I let a NZ marked trainer slip by a couple years ago and have been kicking myself since, so there was no hesitation this time. Looks to have been converted in 27. Perfect bore, no import stamps, and a no 2 empty mag with the 22 stamp. Matching numbers except site is not numbered, and forend has wrong # on last digit which could of been a mistake as I have seen that on forends before. These are fun to shoot, if no one else is shooting (if I'm on blm land anyway) I like to take off the earplugs and here the "crack" when you pull the trigger, other wise it always seems like a misfire until I cycle the bolt and see the smoke.
    Cheers

I love the full handguard. I think its way more interesting looking than the No 4s.

I bought a No 4 but what I really wanted was a SMLE.

What? You mean you cannot feel the recoil from when you shoot a 22lr out of an 8.5 lbs. rifle? Congrats! Very cool gun.

Very nice! I have a Lithgow built #2mk4. As you wrote, they are fun to shoot. I'd like to find a #9 some day. I've seen a couple but never one for sale.

I've seen a few no8's for sale, 1 no 7 (went way beyond my wallet size) but haven't come across a no9. That's definitely on my holy grail list along with a no 6 trials rifle.
Side note, I finally found this

Will post more pics with the smle it came with in a few days
              Cheers

Congrats! I could see how firing it at a rifle range you wouldn't even know if it went off or not. It's pretty amazing that it kept the volley sights and brass disk throughout all the years.
