Is this worth getting??

I have a Remington M9103a3 "Sporterized" that I bought last year



For the longest time, I've been able to locate stocks but no hardware, then yesterday I saw this on ebay:

It looks OK but it also I'll have to do some work to the stock (refinishing and maybe a repair or two). The price is decent even with shipping. I'm no hurry to get this done (hell it's been this long - it can wait a bit longer).

So what's your thoughts/opinions on this??

I would be tempted just to get a repro stock from the CMP. Still need a couple pieces of hardware, but you can probably find those around.

That is the wrong stock for your rifle. The stock looks like it would work, but the handguard won't. The hardware will work, but is wrong for your rifle.

emcon - The more I think about the more I agree with you. At least with CMP you know you're going to get a quality product.

Try Northridge Supply, Northridge CA. I bought an 03-A3 stock from them that was hard to distinguish from new and it was less than $100 shipped. I prefer to go with genuine GI if I can. CMP stocks are from Boyds you can order straight from them.

Charge your header to, "Is this worth restoring to military configuration".

Straight or pistol grip stocks depends on what shooting style you like, or if you want to restore it to collectable matching condition.

Wartime 03's are typical refinished mix master parts/rebuilds thrown together.

Rebuild to matching over time part by part if not shooting it.
