    COE question

O.K. before some of you flame me I have read all I can find and filled out my application to the best of my understanding EXCEPT where it asks specifically for business name; I am an FFL 03 guy and have no business, I checked the boxes for Collector and OTHER with the explanation I am an FFL 03 license holder. Is this good to go or will the revoke it when I go to get my livescan? Secondly, what in the heck are the prices for livescan etc?? It says "You must pay the Live Scan operator a $54 DOJ fingerprint processing fee and Bureau of Firearms (BOF) eligibility processing fee, a $19 FBI fingerprint
processing fee, as well as the Live Scan operator's fee (Note: the Live Scan operator fee varies by Live Scan site, and the
BOF does not regulate or set this price). O.K. so what is the BOF eligibility fee, and the Live Scan operators fee in San bernardino county? I would like to hear from anyone who has completed the form succesfully. This is not a renewal it is the intial form submission. Thanks, J

Leave the business name blank. The person who takes your fingerprints will tell you how much of what to pay and will send your prints to the DoJ. Budget $130. It should cost a fair bit less than that. This is very much worth the hassle.

The fingerprint fees are the only ones then? I see a renewal fee of $22.00 but nothing for new applicants.....

I agree with Marksmandown that it is worth it. Mine was less than $130, but that $130 is a good estimate. If you are in San Bernardino, go to the Sheriff's Office, but check the schedule because they are closed on Fridays. Just Google Live Scan for High Desert if you don't want to come down the hill. A bit of a hassle for the COE, but it has been worth the hassle.

Leave business name blank as others have advised.

Don't worry about that $22 for now. That is the renewal fee. The form is a bit weird. Just find the Livescan operator you want to go to, then go from there.

Ok so called and got an appt, bit of confusion on their part as what the livescan is for so I am told that it will cost between $86-89.00, exact change only. They THINK the catagory is a "Dangerous Weapons" catagory, I thought that was an intersting wording....

No dangerous weapons enter into this at all...

When I went to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's, they asked me if I were getting a "Concealed Carry". I told them "no, just a COE". Then they did the Live Scan. There may be some confusion at first with Live Scan people.. Just tell them the COE is for the Justice Department, and it should not be a problem.

You might have to explain what a C&R license is and what a COE is.

Just bring in the COE livescan request form. It answers everything.

I had to give them the ORI number off the livescan form which was supposed to allow them to see what the cost would be. Yes, the form, filled out correctly, has to accompany me to the livescan tomorrow.

You must use the form as it has the routing info to ensure CA DOJ Firearms branch gets your results.

Going from memory the Livescan covers State, FBI and Firearms checks. Not sure why but not all Livescan operators can do all levels of Livescan. I would stick with a LE agency.

The form tells the Livescan operator what fees they have to collect. FYI some of the fees went down in 2014 and the current COE form is wrong. All in my local PD charged me $91 (or $96 can't remember) to do mine a few months ago.

Just a heads up most operators will only take cash or check.

There is no additional fee to pay for your initial application. CA DOJ makes there money from the Livescan fees you pay to the local Livescan operator.
