Head space Guage for mosin nagant/ 7.62x54R?

Anyone in the Inland empire, close to Moreno Valley, that has a head space Guage that I can use to check my rifle? I can swing by or meet somewhere to just use it for 2 min, so I know it's safe to use my rifle. Thanks.

Have you checked the firing pin length as well? I have found that to be more commonly out of adjustment than head space issues on all of my Mosins.

Yep did that cuz i took the bolt completely apart to clean it.

Is it a recent import? If so, and the numbers match, it is probably fine. It was headspaced by the Soviet armorers before it was put in storage.

If it is a Molot, it has been proofed recently, and is within specifications, it is a requirement for sale of all firearms in Russia.

I did not get a Molot, was not sure what that meant. Im sure its fine but just want to make sure. Might have found someone nearby to let me borrow, thanks.

Molot is a Russian Arms company, who have processed the rifles coming out of Russia for the past few years.

If it came from Russia (rather than Ukraine like most earlier imports) it will have a diamond mark <ГИС> on the action, barrel (normally under the handguard) and on the bolt. Looks like this:

After buying and shooting around 20 Mosins, I finally bought a set of gauges. I have now checked at least 100 rifles and never found one out of spec... I'm actually hoping to find one someday, just so I don't feel like it was a waste of money!

I've also checked over a few hundred and only 3 were questionable on the "no go" but all passed "field" gauge.
