Working a Bolt Action Lefty Style

    Hi Folks,

I was asked on another board about sling positions and how do I work the bolt action on a rifle, anyway, without dismounting from my shoulder? I took pics and figured I'd post them here as well in the hopes it might help someone.

I hope this was informative. A lefty bolt is nice, but not necessary, and the lefty need not suffer due to a bolt action on the wrong side!

    Regards,

    Josh

Josh, you are correct, a little practice and shooting lefty is easy. I do not know why people dismount the bolt gun to cycle it. Either left handed or right handed, keep the rifle in the shoulder and work the action like you are mad at it. Aimed rapid fire is easily done with the bolt gun.

I'm lefty as well. But none of my rifles are straight pulls. They seem a bit more lefty friendly than my Enfields and '03&'17. Just takes practice.
      Cheers

        Fr Ted,

        1. Are you really a priest???

        2. Straight pull or straight bolt handle? There's a difference, man. A straight pull is actually like a semi-auto but you must pull the bolt straight back, and then push it straight forward again. Think Swiss K31.

No offense intended; just trying to educate here!

        Regards,

        Josh

          2. I don't like the Swiss.

I guess carpenters are close enough to priests.
