So i was just cleaning my P08, and I noticed this....can I even shoot this? It's a minor fracture, but is it even safe to shoot?

That or a nice desk lamp. It will only grow. Maybe a competent smith can repair to function, but you'll take a hit on collector value most likey. PAX

No more shooting it until it's fixed.

Better to get it welded up or replace the slide than throw it away.

Have you shot it yet? I would look at trying to get my money back.

Wall hanger or parts gun. I'll give you $200 for it.

Seriously, unless the slide (as I recall, in "Luger speak" it's called a barrel extension or something like that) matches the frame and both have original finish, I'd be looking for another one to replace it with. If it's a refinished and/or mismatched gun, it's basic shooter value won't change by changing out the damaged part.

If its cracked all the way through, its going to be a difficult and obvious repair. Your best bet would be to find another slide/barrel. The collector value will drop either way.

If that didn't happen when YOU shot it, it should have been disclosed by the seller. It's very obvious and should have been seen when you first handled it. Do you have any of the sale pictures from when it was listed? Would've shown up even in a crappy pict.

Looking at your original post when you first got it, doesn't look cracked at that time, and you said it was a mixmaster. That being so, a replacement or repair (if possible), won't kill the value, but will add to your cost. On your second post, discribing proof marks on the barrels botton, you wouldn't have been able to miss that crack on disassembly. Did you shoot +P in it? You never have said if you broke it. PAX

DO NOT SHOOT THAT GUN. PERIOD

I had the same problem many years ago.
I had a fella named John Buttera tig weld and machine it back to perfect.

It can be fixed by a very competent welder / fabricator.

Then re-blued or parked to match.

The fix wasn't cheap. And no one could tell it was repaired. Including me.

Ya pays da moneys. Ya get good work.
