The experts over at the Russian Mosin Nagant Forum have educated me that that primo Remington M91 was worth about $1,000.00 so I am glad that I didn't buy it for $1,800.00. Beautiful rifle but not worth the money yet.

I look good deals on an interesting and changing amount of firearms and parts and ammo. Not the same tired old stuff dragged out at high prices.Ventura sucks too and has been getting worse. I find the occasional gem at both shows but not worth the effort as much anymore. You seem to be content to browse and windowshop which is fine as a time killer or for fun but that is not my main focus of going to gunshows. I've managed to acquire a substantial collection at prices much less than most people pay but I fear the days of doing so more easily are rapidly fading for many reasons besides a small sucky Santa Barbara gunshow.

I know what you mean, but I have not experienced that at a California gun show anywhere in over a decade.

I still find deals but Ventura and Santa Barbara are among worst to do so at especially lately. Ventura is in it's death throes because of the Utah cartel trying to force out all the other gun show promoters and making both their show and Roadrunners suck even harder.

Santa Barbara sucks mainly due to small size and the new law not allowing paperless C&R long gun transfers.

Who puts on the Santa Barbara show? Is it that guy in AZ that used to have a C&R shop like in Glendale? He sets up at a lot of shows in AZ and CA. Top dollar prices and his wife is annoying.

He has her trained to run up and bother people in the aisles that are carrying the type guns he specializes in. She saw me once carrying a desirable Mauser and bum rushed me thinking she had an easy mark to fleece like I'm some dumb kid trying to unload grandpas old smokepole to buy some spinners for my whip.

As far as I know, the SBHA&B Show is ran by a guy called Paul Dougherty who lives in Ojai.

The show is put on by Paul Dogherty. he is a member of the Santa Barbara Historical Arms Society, the group that sets up the show.

As for the Arizona guy. If he and his wife are the people who I am thinking of, they were at the show. The guy is nice, but his wife is useless. She chased me away from the stand when I inquired whether he was selling a M91 Mosin he had. She asked if was an FFL, I said no and she chased me away.

Will buy from Californians but not sell to them. Sad.

He has a beard and his wife is some sort of Hispanic with a heavy accent. I think his name is Paul also. I have never spent a penny with them and probably never will especially as they just come to fleece Californians but won' t sell to them. One time though a buddy of mine managed to screw him some on items he priced below market

Once I was at a show for setup and managed to get some decent milsurps for a good price before he vultured in on them. If I had known he was going to pick over what scraps I left him I'd of bought more.

They were mostly guns I know little of or have no interest in like pre 91 Mausers. What was real annoying was my seller kept telling me about how this guy "knows everything" and I should ask him all my milsurp questions. Yeah sure, I'll go do that.
