    South Bay C&R Gun Work?

Does anyone know where I could have someone take a look at some C&R rifles (german mauser circa WWII) to check them out and work on them?

I am looking for a place near San Jose. I know San Jose Gun Trader on Almaden Expressway used to do this type of stuff, but they were not able to help me since they are changing owners.

I am more familiar with things that are plastic and black, but I really want to try and shoot the older stuff as well, but need some in person guidance.

Don't quite understand what your looking for? headspace? trigger work? change out front sight? bed action? tune up bolt? maybe flute firing pin for faster lock time?

What are you intending to do with the rifle? shoot silhouette?

        thanks folks. :-)

I am mostly looking for two things, one of them needs a new stock and the other two I want to make sure they are in functioning order. I have no idea when the last time they were fired is, since my grandfather brought them back from World War II.

They are unloaded, my friend who looked at them said one is a 7mm and the other is 8mm mauser. I will try and get some pics up in a bit, if you feel that helps. I just am weary of publicizing pictures unnecessarily on the grand web. I would mostly just plan on shooting them at local ranges occasionally, nothing too serious.

          Soooo headspacing?
I just had my K98 Mauser re-barreled (and headspaced) with Don Lazzarini in Santa Clara so I know he's competent with mausers...google him, he's got public walk-in hours now.
