    Finally took the plunge

After going back and forth for 2 years I finally put in my CMP order for my first Garand. I just looked and fedex has delivered the packet as of 9:52. Now it's just a waiting game.

This will be a nice addition to my S&W 1917 .45 revolver, Mid 30's Colt .22 Woodsman, 1940's era Sears & Roebuck 16ga pump shotgun, and the cheesy .22 Tommy Gun I have.

Need to go order the 30-06 dies for the reloadig benck also. That will be the easiest part.

    Happy July 4th to me.

Yes but takes a long time to arrive. I ordered some Golden Bear and if you get a ported plug you can shoot commercial.
I got my HRA about three months ago. It is a real nice gun.

Congrats, and excellent choice! You will be having so much fun on your next range trip. Follow this guide from Garand Gear for cleaning your rifle to remove the cosmoline. When you lube it, go east on the oil and grease. You want just enough to cover the surfaces, but not enough to really see it. I use Mobil One synthetic grease and it works great.

A purchase you won't regret! Especially if you went for a service grade. Hands down the best buy IMO.

I will be ordering some ammo from CMP in the near future. I also see that SGAMMO has 30-06 listed for the Garand. Would this be ok to shoot with out the after market ported plug.

At least my son's go-to hunting rifle is a 30-06 so I have some of his brass to start with. Plus with what I'll order from CMP/SGAMMO, I should be able to build up my reserve of brass slowly but surely.

It's only been 2 days since the order and I'm already chomping at the bit to get it here. My Mother use to tell me patience is a virtue but I believe it's just what's in the hospitals. I want it and I want it now. oh well, guess I'll go reload some 5.56 and .45 and relax a little.
