    Tokarev 7.62 x 54R SVT40

I have seen listings for the Soviet SVT40 for years....

    Does anyone have one?
    How do they run?

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Great shooter, can be picky about ammo and you need gas valve adjuster wrench. Also, complete teardown of bolt/gas system will reveal a multitude of small PITA parts.

A blast to shoot but not so fun to clean with surplus ammo. Bout sums it up. Mine runs great whenever I bring it out.

Couldnt have said it better. Thats why I eventually sold mine, she became a safe queen due to it being a PITA to clean after shooting Corrosive Surplus.

I love mine. Can't recall how it shoots though, haha. Decently

It's not that hard to clean... jeeez

They're at the top of the "fun to shoot" list, at least for me. If I am going to the range with some n00bs, I always bring the SVT!! I usually shoot a few 22s and maybe my 357 Marlin to get them calmed down... then I blast off 10 rounds with the Tokarev and they usually jump up from the bench and say "wow that thing is loud, what the hell is it?" LOL

To me, it's worth the tiny bit of extra work to clean it. After you do it enough times, it is actually kind of fun.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Lots of fun to shoot, one of my favorites...get Bill Berg's stainless piston set and corrosive ammo won't be a problem anymore: http://www.ppsh41.com/SVTitems.html

ETA: Looks like his current batch might be the last...get a set while you can.

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

I've posted before, that I got two sets of the first ones Bill had made. One set for a torture test, and a backup set. The torture test set is still in it, and never been cleaned! It's been wiped off with a dry rag maybe three times for an inspection, and that's it. Other than a little black soot, it's in the same condition as the day I installed them. Your factory set would never survive that. Best money you can spend on a SVT!

I had the pleasure of sitting down to dinner with Bill and having a few beers and a long conversation afterwards. Not only a nice guy, well traveled and very intelligent, but one of the the most interesting people I've ever met.
I haven't had a chance yet, to take him up on his offer to come and shoot his F/A PPsh-41's, but it is on my bucket list!
