    Feeding/ejection issues with an M38.

Got a small problem, would like to see what anyone else with experience thinks. I have a M91 and I'm used to tearing down the mosin rifles, so I'm not shy about taking them apart at all.

If I use snap caps - cycles fine.
Out in the field cold? Fine.

After 2 shots or so, the problems start to arise.

First problem is it won't eject the round. The extractor hangs onto the round, pulls it from the chamber, and as I move the bolt fully rearwards....nothing. The casing just sits on the bolt and hangs out like it doesn't want to leave, or the ejector doesn't come close to touching it from what I can tell. I simply pluck it from the boltface, and go to feed the next round.

The next round to feed is usually a 50/50 shot. Sometimes it will feed without issues, other times it seems as though it gets hung up right as the bolt contacts it where it sits in the magazine. The rim of the casing seems to hang/catch in the recv. Almost as though the interruptor might be getting in the way perhaps, or the magazine spring doesn't have enough "oomph" to push it up into position. Compared to my M91 though, everything seems to be as it should.

Lastly (and this sucks for troubleshooting) but I only have some 80's milsurp ammo for testing so far, and haven't tried anything else. Nor did I bring my M91 out last time I went shooting So it "could" be ammo only related. I kinda doubt that as my M91 as fed everything I toss in there. Any thoughts/ideas for troubleshooting? Thanks in advance.

your ejector is off, the interrupter is directly attached to it so you'll need to take your gun apart again

Be sure the ejector plate is set correctly with the interrupter/leaf spring pressed in and screwed in the right position. if not, take it apart for a good cleaning and try again

Hrm. Should I compare it to the M91 parts I already have on hand? They are essentially the same no?

Annoying that it only happens in the field, as I'm just guessing by the time I get it back home on what went wrong. Thanks for the heads up.
