Case looks steel. Most ranges still won't allow it even if the projectile is non-mag.

I haven't had a range say anything about the case before - not saying it can't happen, just not to me. They always check the bullets with a magnet to see if they are attracted to it but I've never seen them check the case. Maybe an indoor range might because they like to sweep all the cases beyond the firing line so it can't be retrieved and they can use for their reloads.

          steel core

i got spoiled by the west end gun club. We shoot steel core all we want and it is only 5 bucks to shoot as a limited member 65 bucks a year. oak tree is a very nice range but it is 60 miles from my house and no steel core ammo.
funny thing is burrow cyn and lytle creek have the same exact landscape as wegc. same potential fire hazard. their must be something more to the no steel core rule than we know about.

I was at oak tree less than a week ago with some red army standard copper jacketed steel case ammo and they allowed me to shoot it. They said as long as the bullet is magnetic I can shoot it there. Angeles shooting range also allows this kind of ammo.

Oak Tree shut me down when I shot RAS there last month. It's all about the brass casings they collect and resell. The buyer won't take steel and the Range Monkey doesn't want to pick them out. Steel core messes up the plates...steel casing messes up the brass profit.

Steel cases are easy to sort out of brass cases. The people that work at Angeles just use a magnet.

Steel cases are fine it is the bullet they care about. At least that's the way it was when I worked there and collected brass.

Its strange that Oak Tree would not allow RSA as they sell it there to use at the range
"In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out."

I said the same thing, but the RSO wouldn't budge. They wanted me to buy the new RAS "Elite" which has a brass case (at @55cents / round)

you were lucky, the bullet is nonmagnetic, that's one of their requirements, but I got in trouble with my steel, they yelled at me without even checking with magnet, anyhow I got tired with their attitudes and switched to a Place to Shoot, no steel, but much more friendly staff, and rifle range is so much safer, at Oak tree on weekends it's a zoo, and PTS is only 8miles from my house

Just landed a few boxes of 7.62x39 Wolf copper tip steel cased ammo today. Planning for a weekend of fun at Burro to see if I can hit 200 yards at least. Will check to see if it it's allowed... otherwise... on to Raahague's.

I can understand ranges that prohibit steel core, but steel case? That's just being obvious about hating people who bring cheap non-reloadable ammo or trying to coax people into buying overpriced range ammo.

I can't stand a range that forces me to shoot ammo I don't want to buy and also has the cajones to tell me I can't keep my brass. People shouldn't be penalized or turned away for bi-metal pills or steel cases. The Livermore / Pleasanton Rod and Gun will let anyone shoot whatever they want and keep all the brass they want. I'll be damned if a range will tell me I can't pick up the 500 S&W or 458 SOCOM shells I fired.

To all that are stuck with those restrictive ranges, my condolences.
