Danish Krags?

Can anyone give me some information on the Danish Krag rifles? Always wanted one and am starting to look for information on getting one.

What are things to consider when purchasing one? Are ammo components available?

8x58r is around, although not the most easily accessible. If you're patient you could find it. It's reputed to be a decent round and the rifles are pretty nice. If you have the opportunity to acquire one for a reasonable price, I wouldn't hesitate.

Speer .330 flatbase softpoint 150 grain bullets with 43.5 grains of Varget lee .329" -205 (grain) gas check bullet mold

Danish Krags have a different barrel thread pitch than either the US Krag or the Norwegian Krag.
6mmintl has one that is VERY accurate.

As it is starting to look like my friend whom I was buying a Snider from is backing out, I may have to get the one from 6mmintl instead.

Interesting to note is that the magazine gate opens horizontally, not vertically, like US or Norwegian Krags. I found that the ejection on the Danish Krag was the best out of all the Krags since the ejector was actually spring loaded and positively threw cases out. If anyone ever shot a Krag, they would know that the ejector on these guns are...finnicky. Definitely requires you to throw the bolt smartly to ensure a reliable ejection of the case from the action.

Also, brass can be formed from .45/70, though I found 7.62x54R chambered perfectly in the gun (though I wouldn't recommend shooting it! ). The 8x58R Danish round actually was surprisingly powerful for its day, rivalling 8x57 JS Mauser, and was still a decent round by the time WW2 came around. Most seem to be duffle cut underneath the barrel bands, probably because GIs were bringing them back home after WW2 from auxiliary German troops who were armed with these antique guns.
