    Stevens 620 help

I picked this Savage 620 up a while ago. I have looked around the internet but still don't know too much about it. I has a 30" barrel, Winchester style "suicide safety", and serial # is 2250. Approximate date and back story would be great. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Improved Browning design from the 520, and introduced in 1927. 1929 it got a crossbolt safety. WWII Army had them in a 20" Riot version, and the Air Force had a 30" version for gunnery school training, both will be marked with "US" and the flaming bomb proof. They were hauled out again in the 60's and used in VN.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out a date of manufacture. So, its looking like 1927-1928.

That's my best guess with the 4 digit serial and no crossbolt safety. To date, there isn't any known database of manufacture on them, at least that I know of.
