I would look for demilled guns instead of doing something to yours. Keep the shooters for shooters for shooting and the wall hangers for display. Also, the wall hangers can have shot out barrels so you can also look for ones like that which will be much cheaper.

How about just removing the bolts?
On my Mosins I can open the bottom of the magazine and insert a flexible gun lock cable. I have thought about making wall hangings and inserting a huge stainless steel bolt with a large o ring at the top and threading the cable lock thru that and the gun, thus securing it to the wall And making it unable to be shot.

Pre-1890 Flinters, percussion on display (locked glass case) - EVERYTHING else that shoots is under steel lock and key.

The display rifles can be bought at www.ima-usa.com

Apparently they are not resin, but wood and zinc alloy.

The Master Lock version?? I'd have thought the Amazon reviews would have mentioned that.

Everyone should worry about theft to a degree. Display pictures of the guns and keep them in the safe.

yep, exact one that is shown.
I used two pair of channellock pliers and pulled it apart with little effort.
It did no damage to the lock and was able to push it back together.

Not to mention that if you place it in front of the trigger then you can still fire the gun with it in place by simply pulling on the lock against the trigger.

Yeah looks like installation is critical. And I'm reading mention of needing to make sure you flip the lever up to lock; sounds like a few forgot to do that... are you sure its the same one? Don't mean to harp on this, but you mentioned forgetting a key. That one I linked to is a combo unit.

Either way I might get one and try my best to destroy it. Would be an interesting test

I've always thought it would be cool to get a manequin, then outfit it like a WWII soldier (at "parade rest" near a door).

I could never leave a working rifle unsecured
