lost all records in a fire

Wondering what to do... lost a lot of important documents, including firearms related docs such as my bound book, etc. The only thing I still have is my original license, which I happened to keep here at work (for faxing copies to dealers).

Anyone know what to do? My first thought was to contact the ATF, but I figure I'd ask here just in case.

I would immediatly write to them letting them know that you do not intend to collect anymore using that licence.

Then you can destroy your records and re-apply.

there may be a specific procedure for dealing with this situation, but I would not want to invite that kind of scrutiny into my life.

How much of your bound book can you recreate?
Are we talking about a couple firearms, or dozens?
How much longer is your license valid before it expires?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Send your license in and cancel it. Start over with new license and next purchase.

It was a hand-written book, not in a spreadsheet & copied into a binder. Only 5-6 rifles purchased on it w/in the last year. Probably valid for another year.

Thanks for the info everyone, I'll send it in & cancel. Is there a procedure for doing this? I don't have the handbook anymore either. And didn't find anything on the atf website. Any help would be appreciated.

"I will no longer be collecting curios and relics. Enclosed you will find the original copy of my license. Have a nice day."
