    P 38 Price check ?

Picked this P 38 at the big Reno show, i didn't read up on the codes before going but still wanted one .. So it's a 1945, looks like in good shape, SVW code, frame & slide have matching #'s, barrel ( with nazi mark) doesn't match. Can't find any importer's marks on barrel, trigger guard, etc ..
From what i read now, it appears to be from the period when the French built them at the Mauser plant, with the barrel being from the nazi production .

So what do you think it's worth ? I already have a P1 as a shooter, is this one worth to keep as collectible or maybe i should sell it and look for a different / all matching / diff year one ?

I think it's worth what ever you paid for it. It looks like a nice shooter. Go take it for a ride around the block and let us know how she does.

Yeah you got a reworked shooter. Some one buffed the gun and reblued it. As for collecting value it is $0. As a shooter they go for around $350-400.
I use WWB and never had problems so put a lot down range and enjoy.

Oh well, i was thinking its more collectible than my '77 P1 but to me it's still well worth the $400 i paid for it at the show, with the cash & carry experience and all At least i got lucky and bought one with no import marks.

I think selling the P1 and getting another, more interesting P38 may be in the future ..

The P1's are getting hard to find from the retailers now. I think you can still find a P1 for around $350. Russian capture (russian re-blued) P38's are going for $499 and up. I would say yours would be worth more than one of them but less than a all matching Walther.
