The bottom two appear to be Finnish and can't tell for sure about the top one. So I am assuming these were X snipers, did you do the scopes?

I have to ask this Ken, because I'm extremely curious about this...

Beyond the slings on the top and bottom rifles and then the wood coloring on the top vs the bottom two, what are you seeing that identifies the bottom two as Finnish? I'm looking and not seeing any other differences...

The sling hangers appear to be Finnish, then the coloring. The top one looks to have been refinished. These could be Astro Hungarian but doubtfull. The coloring even looks funny to be an unmessed with Finnish as well.

Sometimes it is hard to tell with a picture and lighting.
There are alot of either X snipers or importers assembling these and passing them off as original sniper rifles. Those three rifles are not original wood Russian snipers.

            top to btm

Russian from Navy in 1990 it was covered with red laquer that was flakking off. Complete matching a real shooter too.

Yugo new unfired from 2001, no base bracket or scope. It's the only one that nad any work done.

The Yugo is all mahing #'s including all stock parts.

Another Russian all matching with matching base W/O scope the scope on it was from my stock of spares. The rifle and sling came the way you see less the optic. I shoot this one out to 300 yards all the time.

It will shoot into an inch at 100 yards. I mosttly shoot Enfields but this one is fun and I always take it along as back up.

So now tell me do you shoot the pretty Russian or is it a wall hanger or a lamp?

HAHA no lamp...I shoot almost every gun I have...A few I can't...and have a hard time keeping up with what I get. I lucked out finding that 43 Tula...I traded a one of a kind rifle for it. I traded an Iraqi PreSadam Mauser.

The last rifle in the first pic...I assume that is a Izzy? Are those Finn sling hangers on it? It probably has a Century import mark.

As I remember, their are only a few of those in the USA if that truely is a Finn sniper a VERY rare rifle. I'd like to see the receiver pic and scope markings. What import mark does it have? You do realize that if that is a Finn sniper it is worth several thousand dollars? And is the number on the left side of the receiver match? What year is that one and does it have an SA Finn mark on the receiver?

Ken I don't keep track or all the proofs

or keep photos of years. If it shoots it stays. I gave up a gcb G43 for $500 because would not hold 4 MOA. Today that's a $2500 + rifle. I will look over the rifle with the sling loops and if I see SA on it I will post you a pic. What I like about it is the way it shoots the 200 yard line.

                            Cheers

It shoots well because it is a Finn rework, one look at the Finn hangers will tell you that. If you bought that from a importer they put those scopes on them, the scope probably says made in Russia and thescrews will be flat rather than round head. If you do believe that to ba real sniper you would have hit a real gold mine but the chances of that are more than a long shot.

                              SA Marks On Russian Snipers

The SA marking is that of the Finnish Army. This marking is common on Soviet made rifles as the Finns captured these in LARGE numbers; however, these are not at all common on sniper rifles. Finnish records show a very low number of these captured in the Continuation War of 1941-44 so the chances that one will find one is rare at best. It is obvious that Century had a number of Finnish captured standard M91/30's and they used these to make many of these reproductions. In reality this is a plus to the collector as one should have a bell ring in their head when any SA marks are seen on these rifles. You have a better chance of finding a cure for Bill Clinton's libido than having a true Finnish captured sniper so do your homework.

I only quoted once...you need DSL
