Sorry no pics, couldn't bring myself to it..
However the owner was a Marine that brought it back (Okinawa). I guess he earned the right to do whatever he pleased with it. Went back to the states with a Phosphorus burn.
The only thing not messed with was the Mum.
He re-chambered (he said 30-06), tossed both front and rear sights and installed modern rifle sights, barrel shortened, Stock filled in with wood putty, and swivel sling attached to the base, sported, re-stained, and the ugliest recoil pad ever made. Pink in color.
He said he wanted a hunting rifle but the guy re-chambering it "screwed the rifle up". He said he never got a chance to fire it.
He asked what is it worth?- I said Your memories. Just keep it.
