not even sure if that stuff really works. I haven't personally tried it but in reading reviews, it's about 50/50, which to me doesn't speak strongly. Certain products, like Kroil for instance, are rarely questioned, but there seems to be an equal amount of hype and disappointment for Frog Lube. I'd say if it sounds good to you, try it out, I seriously doubt it could "ruin" anything. -
why do you care what other people think about what you use to lube your rifle?
use whatever lube you want, I personally use CLP and motoroil and ball bearing greaseComment

I suggest that you do some research and see what other folks think of it and then decide for yourself. Your Guns=Your Choice.
Personally I'll just stick to the traditional stuff, (reg gun oil) it has never let me down. No matter what you use, you just can't "fire and forget" and expect that stuff to last forever."The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." I use Frog Lube. Only thing I've used so really can't give an honest "It's the best" kind of answer
Honestly though, can you tell which lube is which just by looking at it?March 29- April 5, 2019- The Million Mag March. Thank you, Judge Benitez and all the vendors

I have used in on several C&Rs. It works fairly well. I haven't had any issues with it, nor do I really worry that it will attach itself to the gun more than any other lube. You can always clean it off later if you want. Personally I like it for several of my old shotguns. It seems to coat them pretty well, and keeps them from rusting well enough.

I think what the OP is referring to is does it detract from the value at all since the lube permeates the metal. Answer is no because even if someone was hysterical enough about a non period lube sitting in the metal, you can always melt Frog Lube out. Microlon, on the other hand, is a different story in that once it's in, it's in. That's why I still haven't opened up and used that stuff on any of my C&Rs since I was conned into buying it.Comment

You'd have better luck with Cosmoline, C&R folks don't mind removing that.

Frog lube gummed up the works in my wife's .22 and I've stopped using it everywhere else. I tend to use Ballistol on the C&Rs, just seems right for some reason.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Has anyone actually proven that FL permeates the metal, or are we just supposed to believe what someone wrote on the label???NRA Life Member - CRPA Life Member - NRA Certified RSO - USN Veteran
I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

There was a thread a few months ago that said use no lube at all, lol. It probably does to some extent, but I believe (I have not tested this) that most other oils would do the same if you heated up the metal. I.e, like seasoning a cast iron pan. You can use any old oil, just heat up the pan and rub it in.
I've given up on froglube but still have some on hand. One of these days I should do a heating comparison.Comment

I have on all of my C&R rifles. People who have problems with it are probably doing it wrong and just leaving it on there. Try it, it's fine. I also use Hoppe's #9 and many others. It's all the same **** but I like the fact Froglube smells good and can be done in the home without stinking it up, also non-toxic.1A - 2A= -1A :(Comment
