I've shot only Wolf 148gr in my VKT 1944 M39, but I've got 20 rounds of czech silvertip lightball sitting around that I'm thinking about shooting. In your experience, how has high-quality surplus like czech silvertip compared to commercial ammo like wolf?

the copper wash and lacquer steel ammo doesn't seem to agree with my M39, but it always seems like the brass ammo works best.
One thing I noticed with steel case is blown necks and failures to extract, it seems to cease when I use brass case. This may be different in your mosin, but that's my opinionated experienceOriginally posted by AJAX22Anti gun BS...

Hey spiggy,
what kind of ammo does your m39 like? It's done pretty well with the Wolf 148 gr, so I'm guessing if I switch to surplus it would like lighter loads.sigpicComment

the Wolf GOLD line work fine, as well as the reloads I've been feeding it. I've tried barnaul 203gr ammo, that works ok
When I bought out some rifles in the past, the guy had a reloaded a crapton of lightball for his SVT-40, which was never put to use. So I've been feeding off of that ever since. (Lapua, Norma, Gold brass)
My best advice is to try all sorts of ammo and find what your rifle likes.Originally posted by AJAX22Anti gun BS...
