Classic has PU Snipers

I have a thing for PU Snipers and am trying to come up with a reason why I would need a third one. This is the coolest C&R gun anywhere near this price range, and it's cheap to shoot. If you are on the fence, get off and buy, you won't regret it.

They are alright, bought one last time they had the 'last batch". These are the Molot rifles and are heavily refurbed, scrubed numbers, etc. All have correct scopes and are in decent shape.

got me a Molot [ AIM ] 1944 TULA Pu last year. I only want one. i do shoot it .
I got tired of the all the crying over on other MN boards about these molots not being as good as the other importers also refurbished PUs. All i know is every part on the 1944 PU i own is a 1944 PU part including the stock.
A WW 2 sniper rifle for under 700 bucks is a steal.

I picked up one last time they had them. very clean and correct as far as I can tell. Scope was real deal.

I saw Mitchell Mauser had them for 900...so better deal.

nothing else even comes close to the price of a PU. i have no idea how much a Enfield or Mauser WW 2 sniper is worth. and then you have to worry if it is a good fake. their are some nice REPLICA Springfield snipers around 1,000.

the pu killed more enemy soldiers than any other WW 2 sniper rifle. just like a springfield sniper .some very good not so good. the only reason to have a PU sniper is the history. i take my PU out to shoot for fun that is all.

As much as I would like to have one, I already have a load of other Mosins and the one I hope to be a great shooter is my M39. If these were $450.00, I would be all over them but for $700.00, I would rather buy more bullets and primers for the stash. I must admit though that I am curious to shoot with a PU scope, have never even looked through one. For those of you who own one and shoot it, is the experience worth $700.00? I love the history but not enough to spend that much, I think. I know as a collector, I should have one but I am more of a shooter than a collector, I don't own any super rare, high end C&Rs.

Come out to the next WEGC shoot on April 13th, you'll get to meet lots of people you already know from this forum. Notabiker often brings his PU Sniper, I'll bring one of mine as well. You're welcome to try them, and pretty much any other rifle that's there

Well, compared to other real sniper rifles, a Soviet PU at $700 is a nice price.


You can find them for varied pricing. I think Samco has them now for $650.

bringing my 1944 PU on the 13th and my garand .

It hurt to spend 750 for my Pu but i always wanted one. I would rather have one PU and one M-44 than a full collection of other Mosins. in fact i think i sold a few of mosins to fund it. for me many repetitious 91-30s got boring. I think i had more than 10 mosins at one time . I only speak for myself. I just do not see how a Mosion collector can pass on owning such a fine piece of history you can shoot.

Another good reason to get a PU sniper. their is a almost certain chance it saw combat . Clerks,cooks, truck drivers etc were not issued PU snipers. they had one job to kill Germans on the front lines. If you have a PU sniper that was re furbished and the barrel is not new it saw combat.

$750 is steep? An original scope if worth $450, take a look on Ebay or Gunbroker.

They also come with Molot paperwork, which is more than almost any other source can provide for provenance. What is bizarre about the Molots is that they have been refurbed many times, shellacked over and over again, the scopes have been rebuilt many times, but the bores are like mirrors. Makes you wonder how they did it, quite possible they where not issued, sat in a warehouse for 10 years, then refurbed, rinse and repeat for 60 years.......

The actual rifle is also much nicer than the average mosin in terms of the machining in the barrel. I know they did not specifically manufacture them differently but it shows why they chose them off the line, the rifling and chamber looks much nicer with a borescope than any of my regular mosins.
