    M1 Garand FFL

My C&R and COE license didn't come yet so my CMP M1 Garand went through the FFL today.
But they said M1's aren't C&R because they are not on the list.
I am planning to order more when my license comes through. What is the deal? CMP website says they ship CA 03 holders as off 2014.
I googled and can't find such a list.
    Thanks

M1 Garands that the CMP sells are C&R based on their age and they are also listed by name on ATF's C&R list.

You can see the list on ATF's web site...

There's no California list. "Curio & Relic" is a federal status created by the 1968 Gun Control Act. Every time California law refers to "curio & relic" they just reference the definition used in federal law.

What do you expect from an FFL in CA?

It's a C&R, per the references noted by others. Sweet Jesus these people give retards a bad name.

Springfield Armory Inc. and Century Arms Intl. have both made M1 Garands in the 1980's and 1990's that are not old enough to be C&R yet. Some of the SAI rifles were commemorative models that were added to the C&R list by name, but most of their production run were not.

Since they are the same as the Gi guns ATF will look upon the later ones as C&R. This was brought about a while back as the late usgi garands were not C&R eligible at the time but the ones made in the 30's and 40's were, so atf gave all of them a pass. There is a letter to that effect,,

The Century and SAI Garands are not military issue and they were not made prior to 1958, so they are not C&R. When ATF bumped up the date for M1 Garands they bumped it from like 1954 or so up to 1958 because research had revealed that production had gone on longer than originally thought. But that has nothing to do with the commercial production rifles made by Century and SAI.

Please see if you can find and post this "letter". That is the normal procedure on these forums when someone is making a claim that is not common knowledge. Especially when the claim has to do with the legal status of a firearm.
