Doc, I'll try and help as much as I can. I don't believe Remington has the production records like Winchester kept, but it would be worth a call to Remington and find out if they do, and what it left Remington with.
If you can post some pics of the front sight and rear tang, I can probably nail it down to a couple of sights that were used on that rifle in that caliber.
