    Enfield No.5 clone question.

So I am known for getting sporterized or just beat to **** guns with the intent to restore them to some extent. A once beautiful Savage Enfield No.4 was brutally molested by bubba. I mean cut down barrel to 20" with a 1903 sight, no magazine, fore end stock is worthless and exterior rust. I need some info before I buy it.

Is a two groove Enfield barrel going to maintain accuracy if cut down to No.5 carbine length?

What is the length of the barrel without the flash hider on?

Finally with all the parts and gun it would come out to $200. Should I save this bastardized gun?

Sure. If $200 includes the parts you need, sounds like a deal.

I've got the same deal going on a cut down LongBranch sport, nicely done with a Parker hooded ramp, but I came up on a #5 bent barreled reciever, bolt, tg, mag, no stock. It's a back burner project, but all I need is the fore arm and related hardware. Into both for $125. When I'm done I hope to not have spent more than $300 for the 2 rifles returned to as issued. If you pick Bubbas stuff up cheap enough, it's worth it. I can't really say anything about the 2 grove, other than they don't usually like boat-tailed ammo at any lenght. PAX

I would leave the 03 sight as it gives windage capability.

I just paid $350.00 for my genuine No5 MK1 carbine, if that helps?
