I saw an SKS in south San Jose Big 5. Pretty good shape too. The only thing that made me a little wary was the dude behind the counter was CLUELESS. I guess thats not new at Big 5 but this guy is a moron. They wanted 350$ for it, from what I could tell #'s match century import marks and the bore looked alright ,kinda hard to tell though cosmo city big time. I would get it but I just got 2 Ak's so funds are in short supply. There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

If its grenade launcher has been removed, a Yugoslavian m1959/66 carbine is perfectly legal in California.Matthew D. Van Norman

350!!!!!! wow, that b a lot o cash.Comment

Concord has one and the guy says the launcher was removed and this "compensator" was installed instead to make it Cal legal. It doesn't look like much of a compensator. Looks like they drilled holes in the side of the launcher to me.
He also said they changed the stock and mag, but I'm not an expert there so I couldn't really tell. The stock looked like it was unfinished (raw) with nothing on it, unfinished."Quando omni flunkus moritati"

$349.95 is the sale price this week. Normal price at Big 5 is $399.95. The two examples I saw last week in Fremont and Milpitas were excellent to very good. All matching, bright new bores with just a touch of cosmo in the right places..I agree with other posters, I too should have bought more of these when they were around $200 a few years ago...

My dealer was selling them for $89 way back when carloads were being delivered to the warehouse in ontario,ca.One of my fellow LE friends bought a MK90 at Turners and took it to the local range to fire. When he saw F & S on the weapon he thought it meant Safe & Fire until he switched it to F & pulled the trigger & emptied the magazine, the range master yelled at him to get that machine gun off of the range. He took it to a gun shop & had the owner tear it down then he went back to Turners in Berdo & told them what happened, the remark was"Oh! you got one of those to." My buddy didn't know commie guns were marked in english.I wonder how many of those are still in circulation?Comment

The price is a bit high, but what else would we expect from Big 5?Dom

Given the non-availability of SKSs in CA without using a C&R, I think its a good thing the Big 5 is bringing them in.
Don't much like the compensator or the removed bayonet, but I have a C&R and Russan SKSs on Gunbroker are just a click away...
