    Questions about Import Marks

    1. Are they "legal" to remove so long as I don't go anywhere near the serial number? Or at least mask it enough so that it's almost impossible to see from the naked eye?

    2. I know they started marking them in 2002, but what about all the C&Rs that were imported prior to 2002? Are they "safe"? Or do they need to be marked the moment they are discovered or re-sold?

    3. Do the import marks bother you, as a collector/shooter? If so, how?

Are they "safe"? I don't know why you mention this as it has nothing to do with safety

Do the import marks bother you, as a collector/shooter? Im a shooter, competitor with my C & R's, only the inside/condition of the barrel matters.

By "Safe", I meant safe from having to be import marked even though they were imported prior to 1968/2002. Though, without a receipt that would no doubt be long gone there is no reasonable way to prove your weapon is grandfathered.

That, and the infamous "922r" regulation as well as where you can legally mark your weapon if you choose to SBR/SBS it.

They keep flip-flopping as to what's legal and what's not. It almost makes it not worth it at all to go the NFA/no import marks route.

          This sucks...
