    C.O.E Can I use it without a c/r?

I recently applied for a Curios and Relic license with BATF and simultaneously applied for my C.O.E from the DOJ. Received my COE this morning.. Very excited!!
    Question:
Can I use the C.O.E. standalone without the C/R for anything useful or do the two items have to be tied together. The whole deal is very confusing.

COE allows holder to bypass 30 day limit on handgun purchases.

Not with ONLY the Coe as the op's question stated.

              No.
The COE is used in conjunction with something else.

You are incorrect. You need both to be exempt from the 1 in 30 day rule.

                  You can:

                  Frame it
                  Use it as kindle
                  Make paper airplanes
                  A bunch of spit wads
                  Play paper basketball

                  That's about it

Tie them together for the hell of it, from now on. That's what I am doing ,and so far it seems to be working. ( I have 2 C&R rifles on the way) But I would be lying to you if I told you I have it all figured out.

The collective knowledge of Calguns will help us figure it out.

Good luck with your collecting. It can get addictive, but it is a lot healthier habit than most.

OK sooo.. We have some serious conflicts of opinion here FTR.. I'm going to wait for my C/R before making a move just to be safe as DesertWalker suggests.. No paper airplanes thank you!! It took one hell of an effort to make this happen!! :0 Clearly I don't have the flexibility without a CR; however I do believe the COE will allow me to purchase a CR in the State and take it with me without a 10 day wait... The more than one every 30 will require a CR... The whole thing is convoluted even with both. To the best of my knowledge thus far here is the deal:

*No off roster out of state import
*CR with COE no wait as many as I want if the gun is a c/r (handguns import thru FFL only)? Not sure I think a c/r can be sent directly to a 003 collector with the need to inform doj within 5 days (handgun)?..
*PPT thru FFL only with State of Cali...
*Off-Roster and none C/R PPT in state - 10 day wait like everyone else
*New as many as I want no 30 day wait but 10 day doj via FFL only

                          Sound right?
