Sent my ramrod downrange….

Happened to me.
Ramrod tip came off in the bore and I didn't notice.
It didn't feel any different when it fired but left a perfect silhouette of the jag in the paper a few inches from the ball impact hole.

Never found the jag...

Speaking of dry ball.....

I have one stuck in my pocket cannon(not a joke, an actual cannon that fits in your pocket) can't get it out to save my life.

A piece of wadding (tp) is wedged between the ball and bore, very tight.
Grains of powder down the flash hole don't work, just shoot out the flash hole like a spark fountain.

Muzzle loaders are a fun time.

As I remember one of the last steps in the directions before putting the sights on the target is to remove the ramrod

In the Black Powder Club I used to belong to, you would be the recipient of the "Boner Award". It happens, and that's why they make more. Hopefully you can find a replacement no problem.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here based on that award name and guess that the average age of that club's members is hovering somewhere near 70.

They are now. I was 12 when my family joined the club and i'm 40 now, so yeah they are pushing their 70's.

I've never done it (I use some overly long synthetic rods so I like to think I'd be able to see them sticking out) but I have a friend who first got his first minie ball gun with pre-measured powder and was basically seeing how fast he could reload and fire it. Apparently very fast if you don't mind launching the ramrod...

Your friend either missed the point of muzzleloaders today, or needs an AR-15, or both.

Well, I think he was just curious about how much of an improvement it was versus patched roundball. One time thing. I think he was seeing how many rounds he could do in five minutes or something similar.
