Would like to hear from Romanian Tokarev owners

Will be in Arizona next month and I may stop by J&G to pick up a Romanian Tok. They have a little S&B ammo in stock you can buy with the gun and I reload so I am not too worried about ammo. What I am interested in is hearing from Tok shooters about the accuracy of their guns. I read the review in Shotgun News a few issues back about the new Tokarevs and how they were basically really inaccurate. Obviously I don't expect a 1950s era ComBloc pistol to be target shooting accurate, but it would be disappointing to buy one and discover that I can't even get onto paper at 15 yards. What has been your experience?

I have a P38, CZ82 as well as a Nagant pistol so I am looking to finish out my little C&R collection with a few Toks, a Mak if I can ever find one at a dealer out of state when I am there and a CZ50 I am going to order from SOG. I also found that Wideners has some Polish Toks, which I would love to get but they won't ship them to California since they only ship directly to Ca FFL03s, but I may ask them if they will ship one to a third party out of state FFL for me. Thoughts?

My dad picked up two after a trip to J&G in Prescott.

He really likes them. They spew quite a little fireball and the recoil is good. I am a terrible pistol shot with autos, but he could get a good group with his Romanians. 7.62x25 is a sweet round. Only things he didn't like are the ATF mandated safeties and the short grips due to the smaller magazine.

On another note, one of them didn't have any import marks on it!

I just bought one from J&G. I don't have an 03FFL so it's in jail right now. I'll let you know how it is when I pick it up. Hickok45 has a review on youtube and it seems pretty accurate in his hands.

It's fairly accurate, and has a surprisingly nice trigger for something this crude. Then again, it's a 1911-style trigger If the grip is too small, Yugo M57 has a longer grip. Overall, it's a gun gun to shoot, although I prefer shooting my M57 (longer grip). The safety, that was added for importing it to the US, can be easily removed.

            I like mine. Shoot well.
I have noticed that if you shoot it too much and allow it to get some heat in it the groups open way up.

I love my Tok. Its a very hot round with some nice pop to it but I can shoot some nice groups with it. The sights are basic and not that great either. If you have big hands look out for that hammer trying to bite you!!

Get one of each - the Romanian and the Yugo Tokarevs. Trust me, you'll be kicking yourself if you don't!

I like my Romanian...it's pretty accurate, and I like the little iron sights. I actually get better results with the simple blade than I get with three dot sights. Go figure. I really love the 7.62x25 round...it's a real zinger and a hoot to shoot. I've been shooting surplus ammo from mine, but eventually I'll get some boxer brass and start reloading.

Have 2 Romanians, a polish and a Yugo. Like them all ,with a very powerful round with little recoil. The Romanian's are factory referbs, reblued, ect. Check the bore carefully, as some might be excellent on the outside, but some also have pitting and frosty bores. So when you are at J&G, check the bore carefully. J&G is a great place to do business.
Several of us on here just bought CZ50's from SOG, and have been very happy with the condition.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The general consensus seems to be that they are fun shooters and that's all I want. If I can afford it, I will get a Yugo and a Romanian and yes, I definitely bring my bore light to J&G each trip. Do the Toks have normal rifling or the polygonal rifling like my CZ82? Anybody have a good hook up for 7.62x25 surplus? I can always bring home some of the S&B but it would be fun to get a spam can of surplus too.

Toks have normal rifling. As for surplus ammo, don't know.SGAmmo.com has new reloadable ammo.

I have a Romy and a Pole, both are accurate if you can do your part. Wish someone made a better set of sights for them though. Surplus ammo got outrageously priced in the last year or two. It's at the price now, where buying S&B or Privi is worth the couple of cents a round extra.

For a gun like this, I will just buy a few hundred brass rounds and then will grab a set of dies and go for it. Surplus isn't worth it when the cost gets stupid.

My CZ-52 is more accurate but I like my Romanian Tok, it gets the job done.
