the prices are reasonable for 98's
Mix match RC yes 400-500 (the 300rc's are long gone)
    non RC 500-1000

True 98 may go above up to 3000 are Ax, 43 bnz single rare codes and correct period matching there is no limit, what buyer wants to pay. and yes these will become safe queens.

I totally avoid GS, if you look out for certain dealers you will be fine, thats were problems start, stay local join some board and read/listen and start making friends with people that have experience. There are many nice men and expert willing to give you free information. Remember we all are here as 2nd amendment community/collectors and I spend my time/would try to show the next guy the correct path.
The gunshow is actually a good place for me, but I have bought more from the walk ins than from the tables.
The SAR show has completed many of my previously incomplete projects for parts - but on the whole, other than parts kits, accessories, books and ammo - as I think I have written before it has been a while since I bought a gun at a gun show -

I am a big fan of gun shows when I am looking for Chinese leather wallets, stun guns, mixed nuts, and samurai sword display racks. With Valentine's day approaching I am also in the market for high end pewtered turquoise jewelry for the SO

I also like to people watch and count the number of obese people with ZZ-Top beards, sweaty NRA ballcaps, and suspenders barreling through the aisles at breakneck speed on their red rascals.

      For Mausers? No.

Well, if you pay attention or are in the "circle" with some of the dealers, you can score.

One guy I know got a mint 1910 Mexican Carbine for $200.

I'm sure that is true Emdawg. I haven't been in the game long enough to say what is what in every situation. However, most of the Mausers I see at shows are in poor condition and still expensive, even the specialty dealers that sell mostly just Mausers.

Not that it is especially collectible, but the rifle I posted above cost me a whopping $250 bucks + shipping. I love the way K98's shoot and cycle so effortlessly so it is perfect for me.

I am able to stick with only nicer matching numbered specimens when it comes to SKS and Mosins, but correct and matching K98's and Garands are just too expensive for me to be in the market for them.

Well, from what I know and have experienced, most of the dealers go to the show on Friday. That is when most of the dealing is done. The weekend and open hours for the public are worthy for two reasons: there are normal joes that come in with guns they want to get rid of and sometimes they are real scores. Most of the time they bounce from table to table looking for someone willing to buy, some dealers don't care while others know what it is and they will take it for a low price. Next, the dealers just put out their wares and if someone wants to buy, all the merrier.

Those are two that I own. Both are Russian Capture, I guess they are "RC matching".

Well, what I will do when my wallet recovers from what I already have on the way I will post a WTB for an RC and see what kind of offers I get. I don't mind RC if it is unpeened. I even like wear as long it has a good barrel. Some of the prices mentioned sound great.
