So I finaly go tot shoot a few of the type 56 and a ealry Russian 1951 that was sent to me as a "type 56" from classic: )
The Russian one is now wearing the jungle stock as the wood was cracked too bad. At some point I will put the Russian back into wood- I have plenty of poor Chinese that are in rikety shacks of stocks.
Using the fiberglass stock was fine..I like it and it performed as it should. no issues at all.
What was nice ..the wood type 56 shot like a lazer beam right out of the box(Allens Armory). These were the ones I think I bought it 12 months ago for $300- came with a blade bayo stock..don't like it and want it changed... the blade not sitting flush is terrible and I would not buy them again like that unless it was $40- less for a new stock
but it hit first shot on the tie plate at 130yds ..no adjustments at all
Buying and selling C&rs I realized..appearance is a great start but you need to go shoot the thing. I was a happily surprised at AA's chinese..and they were cleaned of the vast majority of cosmoline...which I now really appreciate. The Russian was bleeding some cosmo still, had to wipe off the front site a few times, of course handguard was bleeding a bit. I have not changed the wood handguard out to the fiberglass one yet.

Next trip to the range I might try the 200 yard mark to see how well I do. That's a long way with those type iron sights. Another thing I like is how easy they are to clean. There's another thread on a hybrid type SKS and saw the video. PITA to take down and clean.
