here's a pic (bad) of my first Mosin that I nicknamed "Boris"....it's was a Big5 purchase....it's fun to shoot. it's a 1943 "Izzy" round receiver. His girlfriend "Natasha", a 1933 " Izzy" hex receiver, is getting a dolled up for their first date

Looks like a nicely finished rifle. Nothing wrong with Big 5 because you see what you are buying. That toe heel splice is normal and isn't a 'repair', rather Boris's frugal use of wood to avoid waste.

Big5 is alright by me...gave me a good deal on my hex/Natasha so I can't complain....the wood is alot nicer too.. : )
