comes in a normal looking spam can except it is 240 rounds sold as match ammo. inside are yellow and white striped 20 round cardboard boxes marked 1970. it is not megnetic and the shells are brass. it is Russian with markings with cccp in one spot

i have about 600 rounds of it i bought at ammo bros last year. i do clean mu Mosins after every shoot. but if it is corrosive i do spend extra time on it.

If it's Soviet and from the 70's it's definitely corrosive.

test it, pull the bullet, load the casing and shoot the primer at a piece of steel, clean your gun and wait to see if the spot on the steel starts to rust.

That's Russian Extra-Match. 200 gr bullet Hands down the best and most consistant surplus ive ever used.

Wish i got more of it. If you look on the side of the can, the avg spread @ 300meters is listed for that batch, the best lots are around 6 cm i think

I just go under the assumption that if it is not modern, commercially produced 54r, then it is corrosive regardless of what the internet or salesperson in the store may say. Better safe than sorry.

Lucky i am a clean freak, i have been shooting this stuff as not corrosive.now that i know it is very good ammo i will save it for my Finn M-39 and 1944 TULA PU . shameless plug

Great ammo, limited release a year or two ago. Yes its corrosive.
