Helped a guy get $150 Mosin--turned out to be FINN!

Unfortunately, no pics of that one, as it's at his home in the safe. But it's in really good shape. We've definitely briefed him on corrosive ammo. He indicated he's probably going to treat it like a typical .30-06 and buy new Prvi Partizan ammo for it. Several of us at the shop are reloaders and have offered to show him how when he gets ready. After getting to know me (I'm a total brass whore), he knows and understands the Holy Command To Keep Thy Brass.

Fortunately, the Law of Karma came around to visit me, in a good way. No, I'm not saying how much it cost, but it was a deal you couldn't refuse. For that, I do have some pics.



This looks to me like another M91 like mosinnagantm9130 was talking about, given its datestamp of 1940 and its barrel length; it's about an inch and a half longer than my Russian M91/30. I'm hardly an "expert", though. Due to said date, I'm not sure if this is a 0.308" barrel or 0.310". This is basically what my buddy's rifle looks like, but his is in yet nicer condition.

You should have given him one of your 1943 IZZYs for a hundred bucks that you know works and kept it for yourself. he probably could care less it is a FINN. he will sand the crap out of the stock, mini wax it and forget to clean it.

Mosinnagantm9130 was right. It's 0.310", right on the button. Slugged it with some fishing weights and took a micrometer to it. Therefore, since my buddy's is a 1941, his is probably that diameter as well.

BTW, if I catch him with a piece of sandpaper within 50 miles of that rifle, several of us at the shop will summon the Demons of Collector Hell upon his House. He has been duly instructed to leave it as-is.

i slugged all my mosin ammo , .309 no matter what type. my plain factory 188 and my 1970 extra match in the yellow cardboard box.
