Hello, I am gearing up for the local gunshow and I would like to offer for sale this new to me Sporterize 1909 Danzig Mauser, All the serial #'s match at it is very clean and smooth. I wonder what the range is for a price to sell at the show. Thanks in advance ! Just ball park is good enough.

    Pictures would really help.

    Drilled for scope? Barrel cutdown?

I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a restorable Mauser.

i have a 1918 danzig KAR98a and was told it was not worth that much. if it had a 1920 over stamp that would mean the germans were allowed to keep it, like 60,000 of them. the vast majority were given to the victors. France, Poland etc. maybe the one you have is worth more. good luck

Figure it's worth 1/2 to 1/4 what it would have been worth if it was left alone as a WWI GEW98. Matching numbers means little since it's not original and parts (handguard? Barrel bands? Bayonet mount?) are missing. So, a couple hundred bucks, unless it was a really nice sport job from a German craft guild.

We need photos and more detail to say much more than that.

"Sporterized" is anathema to collectors and is guaranteed to take a big hit on value, unless it is a nice Guild gun. Most, unfortunately are bubba'd hackjobs.
I learned the hard way when I bought an all matching K98 but it was too far gone to restore and I was glad to sell it off and break even.

I pay next to nothing for sporterized guns especially if unrestoreable. I don't even think I own one currentl.

Are the overstamped ones worth anything?

I have a Danzig with the 1920 overstamp.

It could have been rebarrelled by the Germans and converted to a K98.

                          Pictures would help.

It could also be a Kar98, they had a ~24" barrel, and were made in Danzig in 1909.

Are there any markings on it?

Also, it is new to you and you want to sell it? Why for?
