    MINI 14 & SKS

You just cant beat these for cheap simi auto fun. I have not shot ether for a while so i decided to shoot them both.
i went threw a lot of 223 and 7.62-39 and not one ammo or gun problem, cheap wolf and tula it was a good day. i striped them both all the way down and cleaned them . the mini i only shoot a couple of times a year. it really is not my rifle. but kind of on permanent loan. My friends wife does not mind pistols in the house but no rifles or shot guns ????.
I also for the second time shot a AK [ thanks dumpy ] . I am having a hard time resisting getting one. Totally different experience shooting the AK and the SKS. not better just different.

Sks fever? I enjoy shooting my paratrooper more than any other sks or AR's, mini 14 is a nice rifle and hope to get one this year.

I finally took my Ak out a few weeks ago, it really is a different beast than the sks. A lot lighter seemingly, and a lighter trigger pull. Always good to have both

I guess a Mini-14 is cheap fun if someone GIVES it to you. The Big 5 sale price recently was the same or more than a basic AR-15 carbine at 2nd Amendment in Bakersfield. And AR's usually are way more accurate, even the $700 to $800 ones.

If I didn't already have an AR, I'd have gone for an SKS for plinking fun. But my daughter, who likes to shoot rifles, was 14 when she wanted to shoot something bigger than a 22 rimfire. So I put together a basic AR with a 1.5-4.5X scope, and that thing is sub-MOA with decent ammo when the wind's not blowing.

I've shot a few AK's and a few SKS's, and I definitely prefer the SKS. I just don't like the short sight radius on the AK, and the trigger actions on the ones I tried left a lot to be desired.

AK, SKS, EBR..... Love them all.

I have a couple of Mini-14s that I haven't taken out to the range in years. Pulled them out from the back of the safe about 6 months ago. Stripped them down and gave a good clean and lube but I really do need to get them to the range again. They are the older, early to mid 80s ones.

i like SKSs but east block V sights leave something to be desired with 66 year old eyes. glasses or no glasses every thing is a BLUR.
the mini 14 i shoot is also the thin barrel early one. but until last year it was never fired. If i can put 10 shots center mass around 6 inch diameter i am happy.

I picked up a Mini 14 last year just because they are fun to shoot. I have an M4 and M16 clone, so the Mini 14 is a nice addition for a pinker rifle. I can shoot all of them all day long without any issues.

Does Fowlers or the Stockade carry AKs? Might be with a shot to see what they have. For a modern one, I would recommend going to Rifle Gear in Fountain Valley. They are very nice and friendly and will work with you to get you the gun you want. Check out their site RifleGear.com

Fowler and stockade has lots inventory. But watch out for their price. Make sure you do your home work and not to get screw by their ridiculous high mark up.

Ummm... Why is this in the C&R Forum? Did it get moved here by accident or something?
