    Trapper in auction

There is a correct serial number C&R non NFA short barreled Winchester Trapper in .44WCF here.

I wanted one of these badly, when I first started collecting, I have my grubby fingers in too many expensive projects right now -

Watch the prices sky-rocket in the last hour - I have bid at this auction a few times, some good stuff.

    Good luck, someone!

I "had" a Model 94 made in 1918, 30/30 16"bbl Trapper before it was stolen in Fresno back in '91. I just sold a Model 94 .44 mag 16"bbl Trapper before I could list it here.

That is one sweet carbine. 14" barrel?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
      Happiness is a warm gun.

Yes, the one in auction has a 14" barrel -
(Removed from the NFA list and listed simply as a C&R because of it's rarity - they have to have specific serial numbers and production dates to qualify as a true trapper, not too many around - pretty awesome.)

I should have been more specific in my original post - sorry.
They still used the "Trapper" monica for their 94 sporting carbines with 16" barrels.

Trapp55 - the 16" barrel is nice, but there is something undeniably cool about the legal SBR.

        Here's a nice one:

They made them a lot shorter too. I would have to double check, but I believe the shortest, was a special order 10".

One of a handful of guns that are NFA exempt as made from the factory and in original condition.

The NFA really is a monumental tribute to the stupid and arbitrary nature of congress.

Our government (both national and state level) is really good at making arbitrary, ludicrous laws that do nothing other than to make themselves feel better. If you want something done right, leave government out of it.

Yes, you're correct - there are many listed in the C&R book -
But, make sure the serial number matches the list
A couple of 1892 models are specified with 12 inch barrels.
There are probably 100 or so different variations listed with 14 and 15 inch barrels.
However if you have a variation that was a factory trapper from that era and is not listed by serial, it is a C&R, but still on the NFA list, so will need to be transferred as an SBR - see the last page of the C&R NFA list.

If you have one that's an original, you can submit it to the BATF for exemption too. If there is factory documentation, it's granted.
