    I have a chance to buy a 1960s Luger (Stoeger?) should I?

My Dads friend is selling, what he calls, an American Standard Luger in 9mm from the 60s. He claims they were made in Belgium and imported. Pistol is supposedly unfired with all original paperwork and accessories.
I have not seen this pistol. Im thinking it may be an American Eagle Luger by Stoeger. What would be a good price to pay for this? He says he paid $900 for it years ago and he will sell it to me for $905. Seems high to me but I don't know.

Navy models bring $1100 to $1500, stainless seems to bring a premium. Standard blue NIB, $900 would be tops, most are selling average $800.

If it is a Mauser manufactured Parabellum model from the 60's, and is NIB with accessories (many are still seen in this condition), $905 is a good price regardless of barrel length or frame style.

I've seen them sell for more. If I had the chance and extra money, I'd buy one just to have that piece of history.

It's almost the same price as you can find a WW1 or WW2 vintage one (with a little hunting) - so, personally, I would pass, without a second thought.

I would say, after looking on Gunbroker, that it is a fair price. Not great, but okay.

The Stoeger Luger from the 60s was a .22. The Luger from the 70s and 80s was made by Mauser in Germany made in 9mm and .30 Luger. The Stoeger Luger from the 90s was made in stainless by a firm in Houston TX. I don't think any centerfire luger pattern pistols were made in Belgium before or after the war....but I could be wrong.

Unless you plan on it being a safe queen then I would not buy the Stoeger. $9-1100 you can get a 70's Mauser Luger nib or a high grade shooter from WWII. The most I would pay is $400 as they are not highly collect able.

I've seen several number matching WWII Luger in a small gun shop in Colorado last year on my camping trip for $800-1100.

Therefore, personaly I will not pay $900 for a post war Luger.
