I need any advice I can get on putting a value on a marlin 1893 lever action chambered in 38-55. It has an octagon barrel. I will get pictures up as soon as I can. I would appreciate any help on a value so I can put it up for sale. I know the serial number dates it as 1900.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

If anyone is interested, I have a nice, restorable, old Marlin Model 1893 (I think) in .22 for sale for $500. Pre-1899 so it is a bona-fide "cash and carry" antique. It needs the wood forend, and the magazine inner and outer tube assembly. There was someone on Gunboards who had one of the magazine assemblies for sale a couple years ago - his alias was M42Dodge or something like that. This is the straight-stock earlier version of the Marlin M39, so those parts might work or be adaptable too.Comment
