    Lotsa mula.

    You can find shooters at okay prices. I have a Pedersoli in 45-70 Gov't that I paid $750.

    Originals can go up and up.

          Here's a take-down Stevens Favorite with a last patent date of April,1894 I had in .32 Long RF.
          I got a few years ago at auction for $210.00
          Great little rifle.

                    Keep in mind that while Remington Model 6s and Stevens Favorites and Ideal Model 44s are nice .22s, they aren't true falling blocks--all are really rolling blocks, although the Stevens' blocks are actuated by a lever.

                    For a real falling block .22, you need to find a Winchester 1885, a Stevens 44 1/2, or a Martini. All will be more expensive, although you can find Martinis for reasonable prices sometimes. I'd haunt the Martini forum on www.rimfirecentral.com to see where.

                    In the past one could find Win 1885 "Lowalls" with lousy bores and reline the bore. Doesn't happen much any more. The last one I saw was rough and the dealer wanted $900, firm.

                    The "Blowning"/Winchester .22 "Lowalls" made by Miroku are nice little guns and can readily be scoped but they ain't cheap.

                    There are Savage-made rifles that look a little like the old Stevens Favorite (Model 72, etc.), but they fail to charm me--workmanship just isn't in the same galaxy as an original.

                      Stevens = Pivoting block
                      Remington = Rolling Block
                      Martini = Dropping Block
                      Page-Lewis = Swinging Block
                      Winchester, Ballard, and Sharps = Falling Block
                      If you need more confusion, I can find some.
