    Mosin Nagant Stripper clips

Do any of you Calgunners have a source for Soviet surplus MN stripper clips? I have a bunch of new production clips, but they suck as everyone is aware. Liberty Tree has some listed on their site, but they're sold out. I tried googling, but all I could find was repros.

Could probably snag some at the upcoming cow palace gun show. Believe it's this weekend...

How many do you want? I have some and am willing to give you a few. I see you are local. Plan on going to the Oroville shoot on the 15th of Feb? I will be at yolo this sunday testing some shotguns if you are available. Shoot me a pm if you want.

IMHO - Don't use them; there a waste of time for most people

The ones I have may not be Russian but they work fine. They came with surplus ammo and I cant remember what country it was from.

Dennis I don't use them either it is just more work to load strippers and then the gun. Some things you just have to try for yourself.

I have no original Russian clips, but have several Chinese and Hungarian (black in color) clips. They work well. As for those repros, good lord they're lousy! I'm surprised that they even slide into the feed ramp, which is more than I can say about those junk NStar SKS stripper clips. For the repro Mosin clips, I found that loading them, then pinching the edges of the clips with pliers or even fingers will secure the bullets better.

Honestly, I'm not really desperate for them, so I appreciate every one who offered them but I'll just wait it out. I've only been in the MN game for about 8 months and I've shot about a Spam can worth. I have about 50 rounds left. It looks like some of you got your clips from the Spam cans, is that common? Maybe I'll just try to find some in my next can. Any markings or anything I should look for to be sure I get some clips?

I will have to dig mine out as I thought the ammo was Russian but may not have been. They are silver in color but I never use them and still have at least one can of it unopened. Tt was not 440 rounds I think 300 or so. came in 15 round packs in the cardboard ready to slip into your ammo pouches. pouches are just another thing I box up and store and never use. At 60 clips a can I can spare a few for fellow calgunners. Well till I see them on the for sale posts.

Raven if you want some to use mine will work fine and they are free but if you want them to collect I don't know they are what you are wanting.

Yep, they came in tins of Russian heavy ball from the 40 s and 50s. There was a lot of it in the shops for a few months back in mid 2012 and then it was gone...probably can get spam cans on Gunbroker still but you'll probably pay a premium. It was 300 or so, 180 gr heavy ball and it was packed in the cans in 15 round cardboard triangular boxes tied with string. The ammo was okay...packed a punch for sure, but the stripper clips were a super bonus.

It did come in tins of 300 rounds and 60 stripper clips stamped with a little star. Have not seen those tins around for at least a year. I might still have the tin around somewhere.

Thanks guys. I need some more ammo anyways, so I'm going to try to look for some heavy ball spam cans. Thanks for the info and all the offers.

Well after a little bit of searching, it appears that heavy ball is an endangered species. If anyone has a can you'd be willing to sell me, shoot me a PM.

Hey OP don't listen to the MN clip haters...they work fine if you load them right...and can be found on line or gun shows. The surplus ones ARE the best. Don't waste time or $ on the gold brass ones.
