    SKS Scope options

What are some good scope mounting options for a Russian SKS ? Also what would be a good choice for a scope?

Most effective/least destructive is a ScoutScope mount that replaces your rear sight. Don't drill and tap a Russian, and a dust cover mount will never hold zero.

I have been keeping an eye on this bad boy https://www.canadaammo.com/product/d...sd-r-sks-rail/ I'm planning to buy one as soon as they are back in stock close to $200 otd for international shipping , there's also a guy on eBay selling one like it but doesn't look as solid.

            Thanks everyone.
I think I will try to find one of those Wartak SD rails.
Maybe they will have one at the gunshow this weekend.

OP: I would politely suggest that you scrap the idea of mounting optics on an SKS altogether. Keep that Russian original and it will serve you well in its intended purpose, a reliable, minute of pieplate accurate, handy and compact rifle that can be used hard and won't break. Save the optics for an AR or bolt gun. If you want to improve the sight picture check out the Tech-sights.

But you need to drill and tap.

I also played around with a scope on my YUGO. just when i thought i had it set up right it would wander off. i finally decided a SKS is more fun the way it was meant to be.
