    Lithgow SMLE III*

    I ended up receiving my Lithgow SMLE a few days ago and took it apart and cleaned it over the weekend. There was a lot of sand and dry blades of grass in between the wood and metal mixed in with cosmoline and it was one of the dirtiest rifles I have ever cleaned. It is a 1945 mix master with all Aussie marked parts that obviously has not been through FTR. The stock has some trench art and it has that been there done that look but it's OK because that's how my No. 4 and No. 5 look as well. I've searched online and cannot figure out the serial number, it doesn't seem to fit in with any of the charts I have found, any help would be appreciated. Here are some pictures:

    Interesting rifle.....
